Portes du Soleil
English Speaking Ski School in the Portes du Soleil
The Portes du Soleil is truly an amazing achievement. Originally conceived in the 1960’s it joined Champery and Avoriaz and has since expanded to include 650kms of pistes across 12 ski resorts and 2 countries. It’s so big that to ski from one side of it to the other and back takes the SnowPros team about 6 hours (and that day we were skiing fast!).
Each village has its own atmosphere and you have such a wide range of things to see and do ranging from cruisy skiing, world cup downhill pistes, villages with goats in them, snowparks and everything else in between.
We are so lucky to count the Portes du Soleil as our home and every day that we get to ski in this vast playground is a really good one.
Ski with us in the Portes du Soleil because:
● You can make every day different. You’ll never run out of places to explore.
● The skiing is notoriously easygoing. There are lots of blue and red slopes that allow you to ski for miles without burning up your legs.
● Around every corner, there is another spectacular view. The vistas in the Portes
du Soleil will take your breath away.
Dave
‘I’ve been skiing in the Portes du Soleil all of my life and I never get bored. There is always something new to discover and I just love to click into the big skis and cruise about to see what’s new.’
Annabelle
‘Annabelle grew up in a small corner of the Portes du Soleil, St Jean d’Aulps and has been skiing here since she can remember. She loves nothing more than to ski about the area with her clients, showing them all of the cool spots’

English Speaking Ski School Portes du Soleil
SnowPros is an English speaking Swiss ski school on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soliel. We run snowboard and ski lessons in Champery, Morgins, Les Crosets and Champoussin. All our lessons are private individual lessons or private group lessons led by one of our handpicked English speaking ski instructors. The Portes du Soleil covers two countries and includes 12 ski resorts such as popular French resorts of Morzine, Les Gets, Chatel and Avoriaz. The ski area has an impressive 650km of slopes with a wide range of terrain that can keep any level of skier entertained. It is a great ski area to head for a ski holiday as it has plenty to offer childen and adults of any age. This is also why our instructors love to teach ski lessons here. SnowPros offers flexible ski lesson meeting points on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil on the slopes or in one of our base resorts of Champery, Morgins, Les Crosets and Champoussin.
Portes du Soleil Ski School - Switzerland
Throughout the season you will find our dedicated ski instructors on the slopes running ski lessons for English speaking nationalities who are on holiday in the Portes du Soleil. Many tourists choose a dedicated English speaking ski school over other ski schools to ensure they will be taught in the ski instructors' mother tongue. Our ski school is popular with English speaking locals and ex-pats commuting from the nearby Swiss towns of Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva. In our experience, beginner, intermediate and expert skiers benefit from ski lessons in their native language and helps makes the information given clearer which means individuals get the best out of their skiing. Unlike other ski schools, our ski instructors aren't restricted to the same resort every day. This allows them to visit another Swiss resort to continue providing you with ski lessons in a different ski resort for continuity in your development. So if you choose to ski in Villars the next time you want to a ski lesson you can have the same instructor as you had when you had a ski lesson in the Portes du Soleil!
Why Choose Les Portes du Soliel?
This ski area is truly world-class. Everyone has heard of Champery, Morzine and Avoriaz and the reason is that the skiing that experienced skiers get here is incredible. It is such a joy to teach a private lesson in the Portes du Soleil as there are so many options. We can always find the right slope to teach on and improve any individuals’ skiing. The access to the Portes du Soleil is great for local Swiss residents who are a short drive from Geneva and towns surrounding Lake Geneva like Montreux and Lausanne. For anyone arriving by plane into GVA for a ski trip, you can be in most resorts in the Portes du Soleil within an hour and a half. If you are staying on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil there is great rail access with direct trains running up to the resorts from Aigle.
Beginner Skiing in the Portes du Soleil
Private lessons are popular in the Portes du Soliel because of its wide selection of runs that are perfect for beginner skiers hoping to get their best first experience on snow. Many ski schools operate from all the corners of the area, from Les Gets to Morzine on the French side to Champery and Morgins on the Swiss side. Each one has great learning facilities. Our favourite spots to introduce individuals and a group of skiers to the sport are the slopes around Les Crosets and Morgins.
Intermediate Skiing in the Portes du Soleil
Intermediates will find the slopes of Champéry perfect because the red and blue runs it offers are numerous and quiet. As a ski school, we love to run lessons here! A hidden gem of a run can be found in Morgins. We are talking about the Didier Défago run named after the local Olympic downhill champion. It is accessed from the back of the Aiguille du Champey chairlift and runs back to Morgins village from the top of Champoussin. It is rarely skied. In Champoussin at 1580m you can find one of the longest ski runs in the area lasting 7km and is a great experience for intermediate skiers. The resort is fairly snow-sure and we often head there with our private group ski lessons. There are also plenty of runs to keep intermediate skiers carving over in Morzine and Les Gets. One stand out is the Aigle Rouge over on the Nyon area!
Expert Skiing in the Portes du Soleil
One for the bucket list for the expert skier is La Chavenette (The Swiss Wall). The Wall is a local legend and is a mogul run of 2km with 50degrees of steepness. The Wall is serious so don't take it lightly. Lots of people get hurt every season. It isn’t to be skied unless you are confident with both steeps and moguls. There is a two-way lift for beginner and intermediate skiers that runs up and down and you can watch the other skiers going down the wall.
