The aim of the day is to create awareness of general mountain safety and promote safe

The course will be run SnowPros instructors, Stefan and Stuart who are both Brevet Federal qualified to the highest level in Switzerland. Both Stefan and Stewart are off-piste specialists and experts in their field at off-piste skiing and backcountry safety.

Saturday 18 January 2025 - Les Crosets
09h00-16h00 with 1 hour for lunch

This training program covers comprehensive skills for off-piste skiing and avalanche safety. We will start with the theory and practical use of avalanche transceivers and probes, focusing on how to effectively search for victims buried in avalanches. Participants will learn safe group skiing techniques and how to assess and mitigate avalanche risk factors. The program will also include an overview of snow theory, explaining how snow settles and forms the snowpack over time. Hands-on practical sessions will involve digging snowpits to examine and understand snowpack layers. Additionally, we will provide general tips on off-piste skiing and identify areas for personal skill development.

The course will take place in Les Crosets, Switzerland.

There will be 2 groups with a maximum of 6 people.

The cost of the course will be 99frs per person.

● You will need a lift pass for the Portes du Soleil ski.

● We can accommodate skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers.You will need to be able to ski red and black runs with confidence and be able to ski off piste

● For the practical transceiver sessions you will be provided with shovels, probes and transceiver equipment. If you have your own, please bring it.

● Please come dressed for a day on the slopes – usual thermals, ski pants, ski jacket, goggles, sunglasses etc. There may be some standing about as some of the snow/avalanche awareness is theory based. Therefore, please dress warmly with easy to add/remove layers.
