Ski School Morgins

Of all of the ski resorts in Switzerland, Morgins remains as a Swiss hidden gem village. Morgins retains its village feel, superb skiing for all levels and quiet slopes. Just 35 minutes from Montreux, it is one of the easiest resorts to access proper alpine skiing in our region. There is something really special about skiing in Morgins, it might be the trees, the sense of history or the friendly locals but for those in the know, Morgins is the place to ski.

Why we love skiing in Morgins

● The sense of nature. Ski along pistes between trees and marvel at the view of the Dents du Midi, Dents Blanches and Mont Blanc.
● It’s a great place to get started. The beginner slopes in Morgins are perfect to get those first turns under your belt.
● It’s a place of champions. Morgins has produced more skiing world cup winners than any other village locally and even boasts an Olympic downhill gold medallist Dider Defago as one of its sons. Didier Defago has a piste named after him and it consistently has the best snow because it’s in a north facing bowl and is infrequently skied.

English speaking ski school in Morgins

SnowPros is an English speaking Swiss ski and snowboard school that is located in Morgins in the Swiss ski area of the Portes du Soleil. Our ski school offers ski, snowboard and telemark lessons for individuals and groups.

Morgins ski resort is the perfect point to access the Swiss Portes du Soleil for ex-pats based in Switzerland coming skiing for a day, especially those living in Lausanne and Montreux. It is also an excellent place for a winter activity holiday with your family as it is great for kids and anyone starting to ski as a beginner.

Our ski school meeting point in Morgins can be found on the bridge just by the Follieuse lift. It’s next to a restaurant called the Fontaine Blanche. However, unlike other Swiss ski schools in the Portes du Soleil, our instructors are happy to arrange to meet you anywhere on the Switzerland side for your ski lessons.

Morgins Ski School - Switzerland

SnowPros is a dedicated English speaking ski school in the resort of Morgins, where we work with schools, individuals and groups to improve their skiing and snowboarding. From the beginner to skiers with more experience, our ski school offers private and group ski lessons. All our ski lessons are available to book each day during the winter season. Our group ski lessons love the area due to the variety of skiing on offer allowing everyone to get the most out of the day. Schools book trips to Morgins because the easy piste access is excellent for the kids. Parents love to book private ski lessons for their kids as the terrain offers the perfect slopes for our instructors to develop their skills and help them enjoy their first ski holiday. Intermediate skiers in our private ski lessons enjoy improving their skiing as the variety of pistes in the area help build confidence and develop technique.

Why Choose Morgins

Morgins was the first Swiss Portes du Soleil ski resort. Some of the first British skiing in the alps was done here. We are carrying on some of this tradition by running our ski and snowboard lessons and from here. It has slopes perfect for the beginner and snow-loving kids and offers a great first ski experience. There are plenty of blue runs to get skiing on and to build confidence with our instructors in your private or group ski lesson. There is also convenient access from Switzerland into the French sector of the Portes du Soleil for those looking to cover some serious mileage in a day. The wide fun blue runs also mean that it is a brilliant place to get on your snowboard. Morgins is a classic alpine ski resort and is the home of Olympic Downhill winner Didier Defago. It is also a friendly alpine village where you will get the full experience of a Swiss activity holiday. The town is linked at either end to the Portes du Soleil ski area. From the Foilleuse chairlift, intermediate skiers can be instantly rewarded with some challenging terrain as well as excellent beginner terrain and facilities. This access is why it is a great place to book a holiday. Probably the best part about Morgins is how easy to get to it is.  It is only 35 Minutes from Montreux, and the road up to the village is an easy and safe drive.  All of the parking in the town is free all day, and if you get there first you can get a spot 10 meters from the Follieuse lift!

Beginner ski lessons Morgins

Beginner skiers in Morgins

The beginner area at Morgins is fantastic.  There are two areas, one called the Geant which is at the top of the village just before the border which we tend to use in bad weather and then the main area at the top of the Follieuse lift. Once the client has reached a decent level, there is easy skiing back to the village on blue runs. The beginner ski pass for under 5’s is free in Morgins and they have ‘espace debutant’ passes specifically for the beginner area.

Intermediate skiers in Morgins

Intermediates are well catered for in Morgins with numerous red and blue runs of a nice steepness.  The thing that intermediates will love about Morgins is how quiet the slopes are compared to just over the border in France. The hidden gem in Morgins is, without doubt, the Didier Défago run (named after the Olympic downhill champion who is from here and celebrated by local schools) which is accessed from the back of the Aiguille du Champey chairlift.  Because it runs back to Morgins village from the top of Champoussin, it is rarely skied.

Eating and Apres Ski in Morgins

Our personal favourite for hot chocolate and croissants in the morning is the Fontaine Blanche which is just by the Follieuse ski lift.  It also just happens to be the ski school meeting point, and you’ll usually find the SnowPros Ski School Instructors in there having a coffee before their first ski lessons, discussing the day to come and getting their ski boots on. On the mountain, there is a restaurant. La ‘O’ at the top of the Follieuse beginner ski area with good food served up by a friend of the ski school Damien, but the terrace is the really special part because it looks out over the magnificent Dents du Midi and Dents Blanche mountain range and if it’s a clear day, you can also see Mont Blanc. After skiing, there is usually a good party and plenty of activity to be had in The Kuhestall just by the bottom of the Follieuse lift so head there first. The Kuhestall is run by the same guys that own the Fontaine Blanche and then the night continues later at T-Bar and The Saf Club.
